As part of the ongoing investigation into the vitality and possibilities of off centre locations in relation to global dialogues, we present five projects that escape the over-determining constraints of great urban density while engaging with it analytically.
The projects are all interlinked with Treignac through the activities of the New International School, and an alliance of other artist’s projects throughout Europe. The network allows exchange of experience, ideas and resources, and facilitates collaborative work between artists in differing geo political situations.
Treignac Projet will present HANSA at a meeting in Mustarinda, Finland in June.
Nőde & Kelwin Palmer:
Nõde is an online program conceived by Maziar Afrassiabi in 2009. One of the main conceptual tools of nõde is the notion of post-ethnography and a greater participation with the people and the materials gathered in social engagements. Node have teamed up with Kelwin Palmer to develop a schedule for installing an Audio History Infrastructure in Treignac.
August Ahlqvist:
Ahlquist is a collaborative platform designed by Jaakko Karhunen allowing various engagements between artists undermining the importance of individual identities in group production.
Situ Projects & Alasdair Duncan:
Situ projects work with marginal and abandoned sites providing challenging environments for artists. Alasdair Duncan works with the possibilities of signification in public space and has designed a project working with Belfast and Treignac.
Craig Cooper:
Between London, Rotterdam and Treignac, Craig Cooper has taken the frame of a painting (loaned from the V&A museum) on a migrating project examining geo-spatial identities.
Seven Atlantic:
Seven Atlantic is John Colenbrander’s newest project subverting the space of a gallery into a research document. Seven Atlantic is committed to explore the history of Utopia in all its manifestations. each exploration constitutes part of this history
through the production of works by a variety of association, collaboration, expeditions and engagement.
