RANA HASSANIEH

Rana Hassaneih's sculptures reshape the space they are shown in. Prepared structures are fixed in a room, often suspended, that suggest the spectral trails of human pasts and futures. They are arrangements attachments and re-possessions of buildings rather than objects within them. | |
| In Untitled (Treignac 2007) Rana Hassaneih has used items found within the former yarn factory, to construct the work. The limits of the composition are unclear. A cascade of abandoned material form meshes that tumble into the disorder of the hall. | ![]() |

One might miss the work but for the different rhythms of the pendant and arranged objects which catch the eye like a lure. The patterns knitted from these configurations suggest inhabitations of the space, a tenure at first, light and fanciful, but then more sinister like a spider's web, or a Hansel and Gretel house-as-bait. |
