Jaakko Karhunan plays with the stability of the definition of the artist in relation to the readability of a work. Often working in coalitions and temporary collaborations, he works with the theater of expectations of honesty that underpin much art. His actions range from an on going project to produce collectively a large body of work for a fictitious artist, to curating shows working with artists to bring artworks and street junk into a gallery space mixing and dissolving them into new works that have no easy claim to an author.
Jaakko Karhunan is also involved with running the Helsinki based gallery Oksasenkatu 11; a collaborative artist run space.
