The collection aims primarily to act as a record of thought processes and experiments around the development and evolution of a physical site. In the initial years here, artists have been given special access in relationship to the unfolding programme. It has been decided to put the site to use before it is technically finished, so from the very beginning, artists are asked into a space where all the elements of the organisation and reorganisation are clearly accessible. This means artists and architects have been able to explore both the abandoned state of the site as it was, and it’s gradual development into usable buildings.
The collection will seek to expand its horizons to form a fund of works that address location and the politics of community. Additional works will be sought to enlarge the debate, and develop themes within the collection. This will bring the Collection into the wider context, mapping both similarities and differences with other debates within the arts and architecture.
The works will be kept as objects of study, and it is hoped that the collection, along with a photographic history of the Treignac Projet, will function as a library as well as a depository of artworks. With this in mind all the works will be made available for viewing in a study room set aside for this purpose in addition to being viewable on line.
